We believe there are three main reasons for this phenomenon:

Modern drugs are extremely active, highly concentrated and precisely targeted chemicals, aimed at a specific symptom. Although intended for a single body part or symptom,  the entire body is subject to the same powerful agent, often with undesirable results - also known as side effects.

Contrast this with natural remedies ...

Treatment with natural remedies is based upon a different premise. Natural medicinal agents are a multi-functional, biological mix of compounds, often with complementary effects. A herb might simultaneously contain active ingredients to treat the ailment, compounds making the treatment more easily absorbed (increased bioavailability), and vital essential minerals and vitamins to boost the body's own response.

In addition, the focus of herbal remedies is generally systemic, as opposed to targeting a single body part of symptom. For example, echinacea stimulates the body's overall immune system when taken as a treatment for a cold, it doesn't just focus on the respiratory tract infection. (It also provides some antibiotic activity, reducing the possibility of a secondary bacterial infection such as bronchitis, another example of the complementary benefits associated with herbal remedies). Natural treatments are aimed at the whole organism, mind and body, not just the prevalent symptom of ill-health.

Add to this the fact that the active ingredients in herbal and other natural remedies are generally less concentrated than in pharmaceutical drugs. This may mean a slower response, but with correspondingly less (or no) damage to healthy tissue.

Using In other words, natural treatments offer fewer side effects and may provide more benefits than conventional, pharmaceutical drugs. Is it any wonder then that our infatuation with modern drugs is declining?
